That day when I felt the power of POETRY

SCHOOL DAYS…

I was a back bencher right from my school days and loved to do wierd but creative stuff like playing tabla (an indian musical instrument) on my desk, mimicing my teachers, or singing songs.

I was in my 12th (A-levels in the UK) that one day suddenly my principal entered our class and caught me red-handed playing tabla. That day he announced that this “tabalchi” (person who plays tabla name given by principal sir) would ruin the whole class and everyone should stay away from him. Well, I felt bad for a while but then I was to my normal self. I used to write poems for fun maybe it was an art that came to me from my father but never took it seriously.

COLLEGE WHERE THE POET WAS REBORN

I passed my 12th with average grades and took admission in a B. Sc. degree college near to my small town. My grades were the highest in my college batch and trust me I was surprised, happy, and worried at the same time! So I was made this “Class Representative” with around 100 students in my batch.

I was still a backbencher with an awesome company for friends who were equally careless about the college and their future. One day teacher for social science Ms. Wilson asked everyone to prepare an essay on the topic “Students Role in Nation Building” and it had to be a minimum of 500 lines. Me being the “CR” was asked to coordinate this activity and make sure everyone participates.
